How do I resolve an “Element contains invalid characters” error message?

When exporting transactions, the “Element contains invalid characters” error is due to unsupported characters within your item names (product/services). To resolve this, ensure that your Items (Products/Services) are only spelled with the naming conventions and characters that match your country’s version of your accounting file (such as QuickBooks Online) and is included within their list of acceptable characters.

Characters such as the accent aigu on an “é” in soufflé, or the "R" registration mark in a brand name are examples of characters that can generate errors. Please note that though the ampersand symbol “&” may be an acceptable character, we recommend you avoid using it for vendor names, company names, customer names, etc.
